Hoboken could advertise public meetings online, but where? (El Nuevo)

One of several topics brought up at yesterday’s tumultuous first meeting of the newly formed Hoboken City Council was a resolution pitched by Beth Mason . Mason proposed that city meetings (Council, Planning Board, etc.) be posted on websites as well as in newspapers (Hoboken has used The Jersey Journal and the Hudson Reporter in the past.)

The world’s oldest profession has a new way to advertise. The cyber sex trade is a hugely profitable industry here in the metro, and according to both police and former prostitutes, it’s happening mostly in hotels along Interstate 435, from Nall to Metcalf.

Madonna to be fined and sued for learning Russian dirty word (Pravda Ru)

Deputies of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly addressed to Governor Valentina Matviyenko with a request to sue US pop star Madonna for using a Russian dirty word in a radio jingle to advertise the singer’s forthcoming show in the city, The Rossiiskaya Gazeta wrote.

Hawaii backs off taxing Internet shopping (AP via Yahoo! Finance)

Shopping on the Web from Hawaii will remain tax free, at least for a little longer. After hearing pleas from state Internet business owners, Gov. Linda Lingle on Wednesday vetoed a bill that would have forced online retailers to collect Hawaii’s 4 percent general excise tax if they advertise in the state.
